The audit was conducted during the period 19 to 29 May 2026.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to verify, through spot checks, Saipem’s compliance with HSE regulations relating to stability, weather- and watertight integrity, ballast systems, and the maintenance of maritime systems on Scarabeo 8.
Result
We identified seven non-conformities during the audit. These concerned:
- Ballast valves
- Watertight hinged doors
- Watertight integrity panel
- Deficient marking of ballast-system components
- Inadequate training concerning the handling of stability incidents
- Maintenance management
- Ballast pump capacity after damage
We also identified five improvement points, concerning:
- Stability analyses
- Maintenance of watertight sliding doors
- Plan for closing manual weathertight closures
- Maintenance of weatherproof doors
- Testing of remote closing function for watertight HVAC valves
What happens now?
We have asked Saipem to report to us by 16 November 2026 on how the non-conformities will be addressed and for their assessment of the improvement points observed.
