The high safety level in the Norwegian petroleum industry is of fundamental significance to the country. We must now ensure an equally high level of security, and we must see the bigger picture. The work on security and safety are closely intertwined aspects of the same issue.
Companies, organisations and authorities must maintain current knowledge of the threat and risk picture, and work to remediate vulnerabilities. Norway must be able to maintain operations and energy supplies even if we are impacted by serious incidents. Resilience is collectively owned and strengthened by the community.
Our greatest challenge is upon us. It requires dedication, insight, willingness and knowledge.
Our industry leaders feel the shared weight of their responsibility. Never has it been more crucial for the parties to stand united, shoulder to shoulder.

Each year, we highlight one theme and one heading that, at an overarching level, we ask companies to pay special attention to: our Main issue.
The choice of Main issue for a new year is the object of a comprehensive preparatory process at Havtil. But, for once, the outcome is simple – and easy to communicate. This single, short text, which we present every autumn, concerns a topic that we invite the industry, through its business leaders and decision makers, to examine particularly thoroughly and to act on as required.
Why? Because in this short message there are some important and complex challenges that need to be solved; challenges whose solution is fundamental for preserving and enhancing a high level of safety.
