The audit was conducted from 14 to 23 June 2023.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to assess how KCAD is ensuring compliance with the authorities’
and their own requirements concerning operations, maintenance and lifting activities in the drilling areas on Askeladden.
Result
We identified six non-conformities, concerning:
- Documentary basis of competence in respect of the facility’s barriers
- Training and drills
- Maintenance
- Maintenance programme
- Maintenance effectiveness
- Compliance with governing documents
We also identified two improvement points, concerning:
Functional testing of the blowout preventer (BOP)
Signage and marking of safety-critical equipment
What happens next?
We have asked KCA Deutag Drilling to report on how the non-conformities will be addressed, and for their assessment of the improvement points identified. The deadline for reply is set at 29 September 2023.
