The audit was conducted from 2 to 6 February 2026.

The overarching audit comprises the organisation, planning and implementation of the plugging campaign. Only the first phase of the task – organisation – was covered by this audit. The remaining topics will be covered in parts 2 and 3.

The report therefore deals solely with the organisation of the work between Equinor and its suppliers, the allocation of roles and responsibilities, and follow-up and verification activities.

Objective

The objective of the first phase of the audit was to examine how Equinor, Archer Oiltools and Island Drilling are organising the work to ensure that the new model addresses interfaces, how responsibilities and authority are allocated, and whether there is a shared understanding of this allocation and of areas of responsibility. In the upcoming phases, we will also examine how risk is managed throughout the entire planning and implementation processes, as well as whether the activities are carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Result

The audit identified one non-conformity concerning an unclear allocation of roles and responsibilities.

What happens next?

We have asked Equinor to report by 30 June 2026 on how the non-conformity will be addressed.
