Transocean – Transocean Barents – management of stability, watertight and weathertight integrity and the ballast system

The audit was carried out from 20 to 23 April 2021.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to ascertain through discussions and verifications that Transocean's management of marine systems for Transocean Barents complied with relevant regulations.

Result

Seven non-conformities were identified in connection with:
• Ballast control systems
• Secondary control level
• Indication of valve positions
• Control panel for watertight integrity
• Watertight barriers
• Redundant power supply
• Remote shut-off system for HVAC valves

In addition, three improvement points were identified in connection with:
• Weathertight zone
• Maintenance
• Appendix to the class certificate

What happens next?

We have asked Transocean to report on how the non-conformities will be addressed. The company has also been asked for their assessment of the improvement points observed. The deadline for this is set at 24 May 2021.
