We have carried out an audit of major accident risk and the follow-up of the operation and maintenance of safety-critical valves at the Nyhamna onshore facility in Møre og Romsdal county.
The audit was conducted from 15 March to 12 May 2021.
Gassco is the operator of Nyhamna, while Shell is the technical service provider.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to confirm that Gassco is complying with the regulatory requirements and their own governing documents in following up valves and reducing the likelihood of a major accident. We looked in particular at the system for holistic follow-up of safety-critical valves. This includes how the processes are managed and how the organisation as a whole is engaged in the work.
We also followed up previous findings from audits at Nyhamna.
Result
No non-conformities were identified within the selected topic, but an area with potential for improvement was identified concerning the updating of governing documents.

We have asked Gasscoto provide its assessment of the improvement point observed. The reply deadline is set at 12 July 2021.
