The audit was carried out from 27 to 30 April 2026.

Background

Since 2018, the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority has been monitoring Equinor’s integrated operations. We began by familiarising ourselves with the IO model, and then conducted audits of its implementation and execution at the following locations:

  • Gullfaks A (2019)
  • Oseberg Sør (2020)
  • Heidrun (2022)

The findings from these audits led us to issue an order to Equinor in January 2023: Orders to Equinor – fully integrated drilling contracts, implementation of the IO model

Following the order, one IO audit was conducted at Gullfaks A in 2024 and one at Grane in 2025. The audit at Njord A was the third conducted as part of the follow-up to the order issued in 2023.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to assess how Equinor, together with drilling contractor KCA Deutag and drilling and well services company Halliburton, manages major accident and working environment risks through the use of integrated operations, thereby contributing to the establishment, maintenance and further development of a high level of HSE, as well as following up on the order issued in January 2023.

Result

The audit did not identify any non-conformities or improvement points.
