The audit was conducted between 9 and 13 December 2024.

Objective

The objective of this task was to verify that the companies’ governance and management of activities in relation to materials handling on the drill floor, general materials handling, as well as on-board preparedness at Njord A was in accordance with regulatory requirements. A further objective related to the companies’ follow-up and systematic work to prevent incidents.

Result

The audit detected three regulatory non-conformities. These comprised:

  • Cargo deck design (Equinor)
  • Follow-up of management system (KCAD)
  • Competence requirements for lifting equipment technical responsible persons (KCAD)

We also observed four factors that we have chosen to categorise as improvement points. This concerned:

  • Secondary escape routes for offshore cranes (Equinor)
  • Maintenance (Equinor)
  • Fire stations and emergency preparedness (Equinor)
  • System for training and drills (Equinor)

What happens now?

We have asked the companies to report to us by 13 February 2025 on how the non-conformities will be addressed, and for their assessment of the improvement points observed.
