The objective of the audit was to follow up how Spirit Energy (the operator of the Oda field) and Maersk Drilling (the drilling contractor), together with the service companies, are meeting the regulatory requirements for planning, risk assessment and execution of drilling and well operations.
The drilling and well operations on the Oda field are being carried out using the Maersk Interceptor mobile drilling facility.
Result
One non-conformity was identified, linked to deficient management of tasks in the central control room on Maersk Interceptor (Maersk Drilling).
In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with:
- Deficient training, practising and definition of organisational and operational barriers within well control (Spirit Energy)
- Temporary plugback without sufficiently robust barriers (Spirit Energy)
- Training and involvement of the safety service (Maersk Drilling and Spirit Energy)
The companies have been given a deadline of 14 December 2018 to report on how the non-conformity and improvement points will be addressed.
