A report entitled “Composite repairs to pipe systems”focuses on experiences and safety aspects of the most commonly used composite repairs for temporary, semi-permanent and permanent use.
The report has been prepared for the PSA by Force Technology and provides an overview of the different repair solutions used in the petroleum industry since 1980. Fire resistance is not specifically addressed in the report.
The report shows that the new ISO standard (ISO 24817) allows to a much greater extent the use of so-called design repairs. If composite repairs are correctly performed and adhere to the standard, it can have a positive impact on the quality of the composite repairs.
This report gives us an overview of the number of repairs and offers a solid foundation for future supervisory activities.
