Equinor is the operator of the Åsgard field, which is in the central Norwegian Sea. Åsgard was proven in 1981, and the plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved in 1996. The development includes the Smørbukk, Smørbukk Sør and Midgard deposits. The field has been developed using subsea wells tied to the Åsgard A FPSO unit.

In order to recover the remaining reserves in the Åsgard field, Equinor has applied for consent to extend the life of the Åsgard A facility to 31 December 2030. We have granted consent for this.

The consent is based on Equinor’s documentation of assessments that conclude that the facility can continue to be operated prudently in compliance with regulatory requirements.
