Aker BP has been given consent to drill exploration well 25/2-20 in the North Sea. The well belongs to production licence 442, for which Aker BP is the operator.
Aker BP has named the well “Liatårnet”.
Well 25/2-20 is to be drilled in the so-called Noaka area. Noaka stands for “North of Alvheim, Krafla and Askja”, a collection of discoveries east of Frigg in the central North Sea.
The well’s geographical coordinates are:
- 59° 52' 27.05" N
- 02° 27' 29.23" E
Water depth at the site is 110 metres.
Drilling is scheduled to begin on 26 June 2019 and expected to last at least 12 days.
Well 25/2-20 will be drilled by the Deepsea Stavanger mobile drilling facility.
Deepsea Stavanger is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the GVA 7500 type, owned and operated by Odfjell Drilling.
Deepsea Stavanger received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in 2017.
