In 2014, new EU regulations were introduced concerning the reduction of emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the storage and loading of hydrocarbons in refineries.
Statoil, which ships gasoline and naphtha from several quays at the Mongstad refinery in Hordaland, has therefore applied to the PSA for consent to construct a new facility for recovering oil vapour from loading operations.
The facility, a Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU), is scheduled to come into operation in the summer of 2019.
The PSA has now granted Statoil consent in accordance with their application.
