The audit was conducted from 4 to 6 November 2025.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to assess how Equinor, as operator of Sture, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to the management of emergency preparedness, including robust preparedness, capacity and competence in the emergency preparedness organisation, and emergency response training and drills for its own and any contracted personnel.
Result
Two non-conformities were identified concerning:
- Inadequate radio communication in firefighter helmets
- Deficient follow-up of own and contractors’ management systems for scaffolding
In addition, two improvement points were identified, concerning:
- Use of designations for response personnel in the Industrivernet industrial safety organisation
- Inadequate marking of escape routes inside the factory area
What happens next?
We have asked Equinor to report to us by 23 January 2026 on how the non-conformities will be addressed, and for their assessment of the improvement points observed.
