The audit was conducted on 10 September 2025.

Background

Environmental data collection offshore is a key feature of ongoing work to maintain a high level of safety in the Norwegian petroleum activities. Such data provides an important basis for establishing safe helicopter transport and for preparing localised weather forecasts in real time.

Objective

The objective was to monitor that the operator is collecting environmental data and that this is processed and communicated to relevant users at the right time, so as to contribute to improving HSE.

Result

We identified one non-conformity during the audit related to deficiencies in the transmission of environmental data to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

We also identified an improvement point linked to deficiencies in follow-up and validations.

What happens now?

We have asked Equinor to report by 30 March 2026 on how the non-conformity will be addressed, and for their assessment of the improvement point observed.
