The audit was conducted from 25 to 27 November 2025.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to assess how Equinor, as operator of Tjeldbergodden, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to the management of emergency preparedness, including robust preparedness, capacity and competence in the emergency preparedness organisation, and emergency response training and drills for its own and any contracted personnel.

The audit also formed part of the annual follow-up of ‘major accident companies’ as described in the Major Accident Regulations.

Result

The audit identified one non-conformity in the following area:

  • Deficient signage and marking in factory and outdoor areas

In addition, we observed two factors that we have chosen to categorise as improvement points. These concerned:

  • Deficient documentation of training in the use of refilling apparatus for breathing air cylinders
  • Fire equipment cabinet not properly maintained

What happens now?

We have asked Equinor to report to us by 30 January 2026 on how the non-conformity will be addressed, and to give us their assessment of the improvement points observed.
