The audit was conducted from 10 to 13 March 2025.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to verify that Gjøa is operated in compliance with regulatory requirements so as to contribute to prudent emergency preparedness and safe helicopter operations and personnel transport.
Result
The audit identified ten non-conformities in the following areas:
- Missing helideck data
- Reduced non-slip protection on parts of the helideck
- Missing landing net
- Obstructions in the obstacle-free sector
- Lack of lighting on the flare stack
- Deficiencies in equipment for mooring helicopters to the helideck
- Deficient firefighting equipment
- Deficiencies in the system to ensure competence in the handling of hazard and accident situations
- Lack of verification of performance requirements related to maritime surveillance
- Deficiencies at fire stations
We also observed four factors that we have chosen to categorise as improvement points. These concerned:
- Deficient documentation of helideck lighting
- Deficient documentation in relation to incident reporting
- Deficiencies in maintenance programme
- Lack of marking and signage
What happens now?
We have asked Vår Energi to report to us by 23 May 2025 on how the non-conformities will be addressed, and to give us their assessment of the improvement points observed.
