Background
Defective and deficient maintenance has often proved to be a contributory factor in major accidents. The potential for major accidents means that safety work in general and the maintenance of safety-critical equipment in particular are the focus of great attention in the petroleum industry.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to monitor that Equinor's efforts to systematically evaluate and improve the maintenance of the Gudrun facility, including follow-up of the effects of changes, comply with the authorities' and the company's own requirements and contribute to the improvement of health, safety and the environment.
Result
The audit identified one factor that is categorised as an improvement point. This concerned:
