The audit was conducted on 4 October 2019.
During the audit, Maersk Inspirer was at a shipyard in Egersund for upgrading.
The facility had previously been used for drilling and extraction on the Volve field. It is going to be used as a drilling and production facility on the Yme field, for which Repsol Norge is the operator.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to verify the company’s management of health, safety and the environment within selected areas, and check whether technical solutions and the upgrading of equipment were being implemented in compliance with the regulations and the company’s own requirements.
Result
The audit did not identify any non-conformities, but two of our observations were categorised as improvement points. These concerned aspects of:
- The cementing unit
- The blowout preventer (BOP) activation system
What happens now?
We have asked Maersk to give us their assessment of the two improvement points observed. The deadline for this is set at 2 March 2020.
Yme
Yme is a field in the southeastern part of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, 130 kilometres northeast of the Ula field. The water depth is 77-93 metres. Yme was discovered in 1987. Production started in 1996 and ceased in 2001.
In March 2018, an amended PDO for the redevelopment of Yme was approved. Production started again in 2021.
