The audit was conducted from 7 to 9 November 2018.

Background

The Statfjord A facility is the first and oldest of the three production platforms on the Statfjord field in the North Sea. The facility was installed in 1977. Originally, it had a planned 30-year operating life, lasting until 2007. In 2008, the PSA gave Statoil (now Equinor) consent for a life extension for Statfjord A of a further 20 years, until the end of 2027.

Equinor now expects production to end in 2022.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify how Equinor is safeguarding the technical condition of load-bearing structures on the facility that are being operated beyond their design life.

Result

No non-conformities were identified during the audit. We observed two improvement points relating to the monitoring and control of failure mechanisms and the monitoring of performance and technical condition, and have asked Equinor to give us their assessment of these by 4 February 2019.
