On 29 and 30 August 2019, we carried out an audit of Equinor and their follow-up of offshore cranes, crane pedestals and load-bearing structures on Johan Sverdrup.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to verify Equinor’s management and follow-up of identified vibrations and movements relating to the offshore cranes, especially on the DP facility. The audit also covered the offshore cranes and load-bearing structures for transferring loads to modules, especially the main support frame (MSF) and the jacket. Also included was how training is being implemented in phase 2 of the Johan Sverdrup development.
Result
One non-conformity was identified concerning verification of the effect of measures to reduce vibrations in the offshore cranes and modular structures on the DP facility.
Two improvement points were also identified relating to:
- Unclear scope of inspection in the inspection programme for structures
- Coherence between analysed failure modes in the design basis and the scope of inspection in the inspection plans
What happens next?
Equinor has been given a deadline of 25 November 2019 to report on how the non-conformity and improvement points will be addressed.
