On 10 and 11 January 2018, we carried out an audit of Statoil Mongstad and the company's follow-up of the H2 gas leak in October 2016.

Background

On 25 October 2016 a leak of hydrogen-rich gas occurred in connection with work on a gasoline facility at the Mongstad facility.

The PSA investigated the incident and found a number of serious regulatory breaches.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to review Statoil's actions and improvements following the incident.

Result

The audit identified one improvement point linked to the capacity of the drainage system. We have asked Statoil to provide their assessment of this by 16 April.
