Equinor - Johan Castberg - Planning and engineering of infield pipelines

Background

Earlier in the year, we assessed the plan for development and operation (PDO) for the Johan Castberg facility. Both before and during the processing of the PDO, there was dialogue concerning the choice of solutions and design, including the design, covering and lifetime of the pipelines. A lot of attention is being paid to this development and we wanted to continue our follow-up to gain an insight into how the safety of the pipeline systems is being provided for.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify that detailed engineering of the infield pipelines complies with

established requirements and standards, and to audit how the project is exercising its supervisory duty towards sub-contractors.

Result

No non-conformities were detected during the audit.
Two improvement points were identified in connection with:

• Quality control of analyses and internal software at the supplier’s
• Follow-up of the supplier

Equinor has been given a deadline of 3 July 2018 to report on how the improvement points will be addressed.
