Esso - Slagentangen - Alarm load and Human factors

From 22 to 24 August 2017, we carried out an audit and follow-up of alarm load and human factors in the control room at Slagentangen.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to investigate whether the alarm systems at the facility give the panel operators the necessary support in handling the processing facility during normal operations and during interruptions caused by incidents, measured against the relevant company and statutory requirements.

Result

The audit identified one non-conformity relating to the training room in the Remote Operation Building (ROB).

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with:

• Working environment training 
• Function descriptions of safety representatives and senior safety representative

We have asked Esso for feedback on how they assess these matters by 9 October 2017.
