Background and objective

Statoil is the operator of Johan Sverdrup, an oilfield in the North Sea around 155 kilometres west of Karmøy in Rogaland county. The first construction phase of the development consists of a field centre with four fixed facilities for accommodation, processing, drilling and risers. The four facilities are linked by bridges. Johan Sverdrup is to be powered from onshore from when it is commissioned in 2019.

The PSA has carried out an audit of design engineering of risers and conductor casings for the riser facility. The audit was carried out as meetings with Statoil and Kværner in Oslo on 2 and 3 May 2016. The purpose of the audit was to monitor Statoil's follow-up of suppliers and verify that the project was being planned and executed in compliance with the regulatory requirements and recognised norms.
