Objective

Statoil is the operator of the Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea, approx. 155 kilometres west of Karmøy in Rogaland county.

The first construction phase of the development consists of four facilities for accommodation, processing, drilling and risers. The riser facility has been designed to receive electrical power from onshore. The four platforms have bridge connections.

The PSA has carried out an audit of Statoil concerning the design engineering of the steel jackets for the drilling platform (DP) and the riser platform (RP). The audit took place in week 39 at Kværner Verdal, which is responsible for the fabrication of the jackets, and in week 48 at Drydocks World in Dubai, which is subcontracted to Kværner.

Result

No non-conformities were detected during this audit.

However, an improvement point was identified connected with the formalisation of learning.

Statoil has been requested to provide feedback on its assessment of the improvement point by 1 February 2017.
