Objective
Statoil is the operator of the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea, which is to be developed using a floating production platform (FPSO).
The petroleum regulations allow the use of other standards than NORSOK for the design engineering of load-bearing structures. On 13 and 14 April 2016, the PSA carried out an audit at Statoil to investigate whether the maritime standards that the company has opted to apply comply with the regulatory requirement to use recognised norms.
Result
No non-conformities were identified during the audit.
An improvement point was identified in connection with Statoil's function specification.
We have asked Statoil to respond by 28 May 2016 concerning how the improvement point will be assessed.
