Objective

From 21 to 23 June 2016, the PSA carried out an audit of how Statoil is satisfying the regulatory requirements and its own procedures in respect of reducing the likelihood of a major accident. The audit focused in particular on barrier management, the company's work on explosion protection and the systematic approach to change monitoring.

Result

No non-conformities were detected during this audit.

An improvement point was identified connected with the updating of an explosion protection document.

Statoil has been asked to respond by 15 September 2016 concerning how the improvement point will assessed.

Hammerfest LNG

Hammerfest LNG is located in Hammerfest municipality, Finnmark.

The facility receives gas from the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea. Natural gas is cooled into liquid natural gas (LNG) and transported from the plant by gas tankers, while the gas's CO2 content is separated out and sent back to the field for reinjection. The plant came on stream in August 2007.
