The audit was conducted on 12 June 2015 and comprised the first part of an audit of Transocean’s planning and execution of a Special Periodic Survey (SPS) of Transocean Winner in autumn 2016. The audit was restricted to assessing matters relating to working environment surveying in advance of the planned SPS and plans for improving/upgrading working environment conditions on the facility.

Objective

The objective of the audit’s first phase was to check that Transocean had implemented appropriate working environment surveys for Transocean Winner in accordance with the regulatory requirements for regular working environment surveys. Such surveys are necessary for obtaining an up-to-date status of working environment conditions on the facility. The objective was also to verify that the company had established proper management systems for planning and executing SPSs for Transocean Winner and the company’s other mobile drilling facilities, including ensuring employee participation.

Result

Improvement points were identified relating to:

  • Upgrading of shale-shaker room
  • Status of noise exposure
  • Follow-up of identified high-noise-area non-conformities
  • Emergency lighting
