Many companies in the petroleum industry are showing a growing interest in cognitive technology because it can help to implement safety-critical tasks in a safer, more effective or more sustainable way.
This also means that a number of technical, organisational and human challenges must be overcome in order to realise the potential offered by cognitive technology.
Work in the study has included acquiring and collating knowledge about the development and implementation of cognitive technology for safety-critical operations in high-risk industries, primarily the petroleum sector.
This knowledge has been obtained from research literature, the industry and government authorities.
Issues investigated are:
- what use is currently made of cognitive technology in Norway’s petroleum industry?
- how do people and cognitive technology interact?
- what is the end-user’s role in developing cognitive technology?
- what assumptions currently apply for work on cognitive technology?
The report is only available in Norwegian.
