The compilation is based on a document review, questionnaire, dialogue meetings with six selected companies, and qualitative and quantitative analyses of the responses.
The background to this activity is our focus on major accidents and barrier management, of which maintenance and maintenance management are an important aspect. Previous studies and our own audits have detected weaknesses and improvement potential within both barrier management and maintenance management.
The objective of the project is to help the industry improve its follow-up of its own requirements concerning the status of technical, operational and organisational functions of importance for safety, and ensure that they maintain their required performance at all stages of their life. The objective is also to help individual participants and the industry as a whole to reduce risk by improving the condition of safety-critical equipment.
