The PSA has overall responsibility for maintaining an overview of the risk scenario in relation to accidents that could result in acute spills to sea. This work is based on the agency’s expertise within safety and the working environment in the petroleum activity and e.g. includes:
- Risk understanding and risk communication
- Description of risk of undesirable incidents that could lead to acute spills to sea, how this risk has developed since the last comprehensive management plan, how this risk is expected to develop in the future
- Overview of significant technology and knowledge development to reduce risk of undesirable incidents that could lead to acute spills to sea.
- Measures carried out by the industry and authorities that can contribute to reduce risk of undesirable incidents that could lead to acute spills to sea.
- Facilitation to further develop the Risk level in Norwegian petroleum activity (RNNP) to also provide a necessary overview of risk development of undesirable incidents that could lead to acute spills to sea.
