“We know a lot about the working environment in the petroleum sector, which we’re now making available via the new portal,” says Anne Myhrvold, director general of the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA).
“This knowledge is easy to use in improving a company’s own working environment. Our goal is to help the companies to do a better job of preventing occupational injuries and illnesses.”
The portal contains knowledge-based tools and facts tailored to working environment challenges in different industries.
This commitment is intended to help more enterprises to work in a systematic and knowledge-based way on preventing negative working conditions. The aim is to strengthen and motivate a common effort in this area and to help clarify the value and effect of a preventive approach.
Backing this effort are the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority, the National Institute for Occupational Health (Stami), the Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) and the PSA, as well as employers and unions.
“I’m very pleased that we’ve established a strong commitment to the working environment under the IA agreement,” labour and social affairs minister Henrik Asheim said when the portal was unveiled on 7 December 2020.
“Attention is concentrated on providing enterprises with industry-specific knowledge and precision tools. The portal will hopefully be a very useful resource in efforts to reach the overall goals of reducing sickness absence and keeping people in the workforce.”
