The award letter includes the AoC decision, the AoC certificate does not. The certificate therefore has no formal status and does not contain any information beyond what is provided in the decision letter.

Furthermore, it is our experience that an AoC certificate can easily be associated with certificates issued by maritime authorities.

Issuance of such certificates is based on different inspection schemes than is the case for audits of the petroleum activities.

To avoid any confusion as regards what an AoC actually entails, we have therefore chosen to stop issuing an AoC certificate.

Furthermore, we have decided to stop issuing AoCs for FPSO (Floating Production, Drilling, Storage and Offloading) vessels where the operator is responsible for operation of the facility.

We have sent a circular letter regarding this matter to all involved parties.
