The audit was carried out from 10 to 19 April 2024.
Background
We have previously carried out audits of the Johan Sverdrup project, within the domain of process safety, in both 2018 (phase 1) and 2020/2021 (phase 2). This audit was a continuation of these previous audits through which we sought to verify that assumptions from the design stage have been maintained and safeguarded in the operational stage. In addition, we followed up relevant topics such as safeguarding barriers within process safety and safe operation of the facility.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to assess how Equinor is ensuring regulatory compliance in respect of the prevention of undesirable incidents and major accidents by safeguarding process safety at the facilities.
Result
The audit identified two non-conformities concerning:
- Follow-up of performance requirements for process safety functions (PSD)
- Deficiencies in the follow-up of non-conformities
In addition, we identified an improvement point concerning inadequate updating of operating documents.
What happens now?
We have asked Equinor to report to us by 2 September 2024 on how the non-conformities will be addressed.
