Equinor – management of and participation in area contingency planning

The County Governor of Rogaland also participated in the audit. The Norwegian Environment Agency and the Norwegian Coastal Administration attended as observers.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify that the preconditions for the establishment of area contingency planning for the field areas on the NCS under the company’s responsibility have been followed up since the granting of our consent.

In addition, we sought to verify that it is documented that the assumptions and restrictions on which the decision was based have been followed, including the company’s role as coordinator for the specific field area, and as participant and user of resources in the area contingency planning.

Result

No non-conformities were identified.

One improvement point was identified concerning retrieval of the area contingency planning vessel’s MOB boat.

What happens next?

We have asked Equinor for their assessment of the improvement point observed. The deadline for this is set at 13 November 2020.
