The object of the audit was to verify that BP's management of efficiency improvement and cost reduction processes is being conducted in compliance with the authorities' requirements, and that BP is carrying out these activities in such a manner that HSE risk is identified and followed up and that potential HSE gains are identified and realised.

BP made a presentation to the PSA of its processes for streamlining and optimising the company to adapt to a new cost scenario. The process is being carried out in two phases: phase 1 in 2015 and phase 2 in 2016/2017, divided into four main areas: activity reductions, efficiency improvements, supply chain and administration costs.

BP's presentation showed that many resources have been invested in securing good decision support for the ongoing efficiency improvement processes. Relevant parts of the organisation state that they have been involved in this work. The PSA will continue to address potential consequences of the efficiency improvement processes in our other audits of the company going forward.
