The audit was conducted from 12 to 16 October 2020 with assistance from the Civil Aviation Authority Norway.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to ensure that Aker BP is undertaking systematic work to reduce the risk associated with helicopter operations on the company’s offshore facilities.

Result

The reports from the Civil Aviation Authority Norway cover non-compliance with the regulations relating to helicopter operations – use of offshore helidecks (BSL D 5-1). These are published in a separate report prepared by the Civil Aviation Authority Norway.

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway did not identify any non-conformities during the audit.

Four improvement points were identified, relating to:

  • Competence requirements
  • Training of response teams onboard the flank facilities
  • Follow-up of internal requirements for emergency preparedness training
  • Marking of evacuation routes

What happens next?

We have asked for the company's assessment of the observations we have categorized as improvement points.

For its part, the Civil Aviation Authority Norway will follow up the non-conformities with the helicopter companies.
